Soil is very important for the growth of the plant for the following reasons -

  1. Soil provides the base for the growth of the plants and provides a platform for the penetration of roots.
  2. It acts as a reservoir of the water.
  3. Soil has different minerals essential for the growth of the plant. Soil is the only medium from which soil obtains nutrients.
  4. Soil has organic materials essential for the growth of the plants.
  5. Soil has microorganisms that have a symbiotic relationship with the plant and these microbes assist the plant in their growth and life processes.
