उत्तर

  1. In the first few months of 1999, soldiers claiming to be “Mujahideens” took over several places on the Indian side of the Line of Control (LOC). The Indian military thought the Pakistani Army was involved, so they started to respond to the occupation. This led to the Kargil Conflict, a fight between the two countries.
  2. This fight went on from May to June 1999. India had regained control of several points it had lost by July 26, 1999.
  3. The war got a lot of attention around the world, especially since both countries had only gotten nuclear weapons a year or two before. But the fighting stayed in the Kargil area.
  4. In Pakistan, it generated a lot of trouble because people said that the Army Chief kept the Prime Minister in the dark. The Pakistan Army, led by Army Chief General Parvez Musharraf, took over the government of Pakistan soon after the war.
