उत्तर
- Pandit Nehru always believed that science and technology could help India grow quickly. The nuclear program that started in the 1940s with the help of scientist Sir Homi J. Bhabha was a big part of his strategy.
- Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was opposed to nuclear weapons and begged the world’s biggest countries to get rid of all of them.
- When Communist China tested nuclear weapons in 1964, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) tried to force the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty (NPT) on the world in 1968. India has long considered the NPT unfair and has refused to sign it.
- India’s first nuclear tests in 1974 were called a “peaceful explosion,” and the country said it was dedicated to using nuclear energy for peaceful and developmental objectives.
