1. Spermatogenesis occurs in the testis of mature and fertile males. 1. Oogenesis occurs in the ovaries of mature and fertile females.
2. During spermatogenesis, four haploid sperms are produced from a single spermatogonium. 2. During oogenesis, one oogonium produces one haploid ovum and one polar body.
3. During the process of spermiogenesis, spermatids undergo metamorphosis. 3. There is no such process of metamorphosis in oogenesis.
4. Spermatid development occurs, which results in the formation of a functioning sperm. 4. During oogenesis, ootid development does not occur. It only appears after fertilisation.
