Why did the Cabinet Mission Plan fail?

2. Different Interpretations: Both Congress and the Muslim League interpreted the plan differently, especially regarding the autonomy of the groups. This led to mutual distrust.
3. Muslim League’s Withdrawal: The Muslim League initially accepted the plan but later rejected it when the Congress opposed compulsory grouping. In July 1946, the League withdrew and announced a Direct Action Day to press for Pakistan, leading to communal violence.
4. Lack of Cooperation: The deep-rooted communal divide and lack of cooperation between the two major parties made it impossible to implement the plan.
