Since I live in Bihar, my region is mainly prone to disasters such as floods, earthquakes, heat waves, thunderstorms, lightning, and occasional droughts. During the monsoon season, some districts may also face riverbank erosion due to rising water levels in rivers.

• Prepare an emergency kit with food, water, medicines, a torch, and important documents.
• Follow weather forecasts and official warnings.
• Identify safe shelters and evacuation routes.
• Participate in disaster preparedness drills in school.
• Construct earthquake-resistant buildings wherever possible.
• Avoid staying near weak buildings, trees, and electric poles during storms.
• Plant trees to reduce soil erosion.
• Keep emergency contact numbers readily available.
• Help elderly people, children, and persons with disabilities during emergencies.
• Spread awareness about disaster preparedness in the community.
• Proper planning and awareness can greatly reduce the loss of life and property.
