Other number = `(-7)/12`
Sum of two numbers = `3/8`
`therefore (-7)/12 + "x" = 3/8`
`=> "x" = 3/8 - (-7)/12`
`= (3 xx 3)/(8 xx 3) + (7 xx 2)/(12 xx 2)`
(∵ L.C.M. of 8 and 12 = 24)
`= 9/24 + 14/24`
`= (9 + 14)/24 = 23/24`
