उत्तर

Acid rain is rainfall that becomes unusually acidic because of acids formed in the atmosphere.

It occurs mainly when sulphur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) released from industries and vehicles react with water vapour and oxygen in the atmosphere to form acids. These acids mix with rainwater and fall on the Earth as acid rain.

Acid rain can damage plants, aquatic life, soil, buildings, monuments, and marble surfaces.
