उत्तर

In ancient Indian art, proportions were used to show a clear hierarchy of spiritual status, power, and significance:

  1. Supreme Power of the Deity: The main central figure (Varaha/Vishnu) is carved significantly larger than the other figures. This exaggerated scale emphasises his supreme divine power, cosmic importance, and physical strength as the protector of the universe.
  2. Subservient and Dependent Figures: The Earth Goddess (Prithvi) resting on his shoulder and the serpent deity (Naga) under his foot are carved much smaller. The smaller scale of Prithvi highlights her vulnerability and her absolute dependence on the deity for rescue, while the tiny Naga under his foot signifies a defeated or subordinate force being subdued.
