उत्तर

Basic salts are salts that contain a hydroxyl group (–OH) along with another negative ion in their composition.

They are formed by the partial neutralisation of a polyacidic base, so that not all the hydroxyl groups of the base are replaced by acid radicals.

Example: Mg(OH)Cl (magnesium hydroxychloride) is a basic salt.

It can be formed by the partial neutralisation of magnesium hydroxide:

\[\ce{Mg(OH)2 + HCl -> Mg(OH)Cl + H2O}\]
