Kirti Bharti from Rajasthan, a 29-year-old child welfare activist, is a saviour to children whose parents force them into marrying at a young age. So far, she has prevented 900 such marriages and helped annul (end) 150 such underage alliances. Of late, on behalf of the Saarthi Trust, the organisation she began in 2012, for doing this noble work, she has been receiving death threats from villagers, caste councils and local politicians. People in her state still resort to honour killing, which leaves children traumatised. Bharti is an angel of hope for these children and a strong inspiration for the youth.
