उत्तर

Given:

3x2 + x − 4 = 0

`x = (-b +- sqrt(b^2-4ac))/(2a)`

the coefficients are:

a = 3

b = 1

c = −4

`x = (-1+- sqrt((1)^2 - 4(3) (-4)))/(2(3))`

` = (-1 +- sqrt(1+48))/6`

`= (-1+- sqrt49)/6`

`= (-1 +-7)/6`

Case 1:

`x = (-1+7)/6 = 6/6 = 1`

Case 2:

`x = (-1-7)/6 = (-8)/6 = -4/3`

` x = 1 or x = -4/3`
