= 42 years − 6 years

= 12 years : 36 years
= `12/36`
= `(12 div 12)/(36 div 12)` (HCF of 12 and 36 = 12)
= `1/3`
= 1 : 3
Thus, the ratio of Shubham’s age today to his mother’s age today is `1/3` or 1 : 3.
