उत्तर
“I was named Sulekha but since my childhood, everyone has been calling me Bholi, the simpleton. I am the fourth daughter of Numberdar Ramlal. When I was ten months old, I fell from a cot when I was a baby and hurt my head. After that, people believed that my brain had been affected, so everyone called me Bholi, which means a simple girl.
When I was born, I was fair and beautiful. But at the age of two, I suffered from smallpox. The disease left deep black marks all over my body except my eyes. I also started speaking very late, and when I did, I stammered. Because of this, other children laughed at me, so I spoke very little.
My father, Ramlal, had seven children three sons and four daughters and I was the youngest. Our family was well-off and never lacked food. My brothers and sisters were healthy and good-looking. My brothers went to the city for higher education, and my elder sisters were getting married without any difficulty because they were beautiful. Unlike them, I was ignored because of my appearance and stammering.
