‘Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet’
I can never forget the day when I turned five. I still feel nostalgic when I remember that day, as it is etched in my mind forever. Since it was my birthday, my grandfather wanted to gift me something that was both priceless and timeless. A true farmer at heart, he took me to the corner of our garden and helped me plant a mango sapling. Each year we watched it grow, but I was eager to eat its fruit. My grandfather said that patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet. I did not realise its worth till the time my grandfather passed away and the tree bore fruit exactly 12 years later. As I bit into the first ripe mango fresh off the tree, it tasted heavenly, and I relished every bit of its pure sweetness. I also remembered my grandfather’s words, which will serve as a beacon in my life.
