  1. Tight junctions: Here the plasma membrane of adjacent epithelial cells are held close together.
  2. Gap junctions: They are formed for the exchange of chemicals between adjacent cells.
  3. Adhering junctions: As the name suggests they stick together the neighbouring cells.
