Aspect Sol Gel
State Sol is a colloidal system where solid particles are dispersed in a liquid. Gel is a colloidal system where liquid is dispersed in a solid.
Physical nature Sol behaves like a liquid. Gel behaves like a solid or jelly-like semi-solid.
Dispersed phase Solid particles constitute the dispersed phase. Liquid particles form the dispersed phase.
Dispersion medium The medium is liquid in which solids are dispersed. The medium is solid which contains dispersed liquid.
Example Gold sol, sulphur sol, ferric hydroxide sol. Cheese, butter, jellies.
