उत्तर

Concentrated sulphuric acid is used in place of hydrochloric acid because hydrochloric acid is a volatile acid. If used, the nitric acid vapours will carry HCl vapours along with them, making it impossible to get pure nitric acid. Therefore, a non-volatile acid like concentrated sulphuric acid is required.
