Since AB || EF || DC, these three parallel lines cut the transversals AD and BC.

By the intercept theorem (or Basic Proportionality Theorem),

`(AE)/(ED) = (BF)/(FC)`

Thus, `(AE)/(ED) = (BF)/(FC)`

Hence proved.
