Δ АВС ~ Δ XYZ, their corresponding sides are proportional:

`(AB)/(XY) = (BC)/(YZ) = (CA)/(ZX)`

`4/x = 6/7.2 = y/6`

To find x:

`4/x = 6/7.2`

6x = 7.2 × 4

x = `(7.2 xx 4)/6`

x = `288.8/6`

x = 4.8 cm

To find y:

` y/6 = 6/7.2`

y × 7.2 = 6 × 6

y = `(6 xx 6)/7.2`

y = `36/7.2`

y = 5 cm

∴ The values are x = 4.8 cm and y = 5 cm.
