प्रश्न
If a crop of wheat removes 20 Kg of nitrogen per hectare of soil, what mass of the fertilizer calcium nitrate,Ca(NO3)2 would be required to replace nitrogen in 10 hectare field? (N = 14, O = 16, Ca = 40)

उत्तर
Molecular weight of Ca(NO3)2 = 164
164 parts by weight of calcium nitrate contains 28 parts by weight of nitrogen .
28 Kg of nitrogen will be replaced by = 164 Kg of Ca(N03)2
20 Kg of nitrogen will be replaced by = 164 x 20/28
= 117.14 kg
For, 1 hectare of field 20Kg of nitrogen will be replaced by = 117.14 Kg of Ca(NO3)2
For, 10 hectare of field 20Kg of nitrogen will be replaced by = 117.14 x 10 = 1171.4Kg
Hence, 1171.4 Kg of the fertilizer calcium nitrate,Ca(NO3)2 would be required to replace nitrogen in 10 hectare field .
