उत्तर

To convert carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) to chloroform ((CHCl3), you must perform a partial reduction of carbon tetrachloride. In this reaction, one of the chlorine atoms is replaced by a hydrogen atom.

\[\ce{\underset{tetrachloride}{\underset{carbon}{CCl4}} + 2[H] ->[Fe/HCl][]\underset{chloroform}{CHCl3} + HCl}\]
