उत्तर

The Indian Constitution can be amended in three ways: by a simple majority, by a special majority, and by a special majority with ratification by half of the state legislatures. Most amendments require a special majority in both Houses of Parliament, i.e., a majority of the total membership and two-thirds of those present and voting. Some changes, especially those affecting federal features, also need approval from at least half of the states. However, no amendment can alter the Constitution’s “Basic Structure” as defined by the Supreme Court.
