Spurious alcohol is prepared by underworld people as follows:
- Water is used to dilute the methylated or denatured alcohol. The required flavours and colours are added to it. Methyl alcohol and other toxic substances are present.
- When methyl alcohol and acetaldehyde are produced with ethyl alcohol, jaggery ferments in unsanitary conditions. Along with methyl alcohol, toxic contaminants also distil during the distillation process.
