1. Ribulose biphosphate is the initial carbon dioxide acceptor. The first CO2 acceptor is phosphoenol pyruvate, and the second is ribulose biphosphate.
2. The first product is phosphoglyceric acid. This is the first product: oxaloacetic acid.
3. Only the Calvin cycle is used by the plants. In addition to the Calvin cycle, plants also have a dicarboxylic acid cycle.
4. The range of CO2 compensation is 25 - 100 ppm. The CO2 compensation range is 0 - 10 ppm.
5. Photosynthesis is completed by Mesophy II cells. Mesophy II cells are limited to first fixation.
6. The absorption of carbon occurs slowly. Assimilation of carbon occurs at a rather quick rate.
7. Plants cannot carry out photosynthesis when CO2 concentrations are very low, between 10 and 50 parts per million. Even at very low CO2 concentrations of 10 to 50 ppm, photosynthesis is still occurring.
8. Every plant has a cycle in place. Only certain plants, such as sugarcane, maize, and others, exhibit the cycle.
9. One CO2 molecule requires 3 ATP and 2NADPH to fix. One CO2 molecule needed 5 ATP and 2NADPH to fix.
