We have, 2^3x = 8^{2x + 1}

⇒ 2^3x = (2³)^{2x + 1}

⇒ 2^3x = (2)^{6x + 3}   ...[∵ (a^m)ⁿ = (a)^{m × n}]

On comparing the power of 2, we get

3x = 6x + 3 

⇒ –3 = 3x

⇒ x = –1
