Explain the types of modem?

Modems are divided into two types based on transmission methods:

1. Asynchronous modems:
   1. In asynchronous modems, a transmission clock is not used; instead, bit synchronization is applied.
   2. Each data frame starts with a start bit that helps the receiver match the timing of the signal.
   3. Messages are short in length.
   4. It is used for sending character-based data.
   5. Asynchronous transmission is simple and low-cost, commonly used for PC-to-PC communication.
2. Synchronous modems:
   1. Synchronous modems use clocks at both the sending and receiving ends.
   2. A special sync signal (bit pattern) is used that is easily detected by the receiver.
   3. Different types of data can be transmitted.
   4. Long sequences of bits can also be sent.
