Possession arrow

A possession arrow is a simple way to decide which team gets the ball after a held-ball or jump-ball situation without doing another jump. It’s part of the alternating-possession rule: an arrow (usually at the scorer’s table) points to the team entitled to the next possession; when a held ball is awarded, the team the arrow points to receives the ball for the throw-in, and the arrow then flips to point to the other team for the next time.
