`("d"y)/("d"x) = 1/2 [x + x^(1/2)]^(1/2 - 1)  [1 + 1/2 x^(1/2 - 1)]`

`("d"y)/("d"x) = 1/2[x + x^(1/2)]^(- 1/2) [1 + 1/2 x^(- 1/2)]`

= `1/[2x + x^(1/2)]^(1/2) [1 + 1/(2x^(1/2))]`
