Businessmen can regulate their behaviour and actions by adopting higher ethical standards. Trade and consumer associations can monitor unfair trade practices by some businesses.
2. Consumer Self-Help: Every consumer must be alert, as self-help is the best help. He should educate himself and know his rights. He should not allow unscrupulous businessmen to take advantage of him.
3. Consumer Associations: Consumers should form voluntary associations. These associations can educate and awaken consumers. They can take organised action and put pressure on businesses to adopt fair trade practices.
4. Government Regulations: The state can ensure consumer protection through legislative, executive, and judicial actions. The laws enacted by the Government must be strictly enforced by the executive. They need to be modified in light of actual experience, interpretation, and court suggestions. The judiciary can play a vital role by acting as a strong agency and taking punitive action against erring businessmen.
