Biological methods of weed control are described below:
- Introducing the insects or some other organisms in the field that specifically consumes and destroys the weed plants.The best Indian example of biological control is eradication of prickly-pear cactus (Opuntia) by using the cochineal insects in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
- Using grass carp (a freshwater fish) to destroy the aquatic weeds.
