उत्तर
When the British tried to fortify Calcutta, Siraj-ud-Daulah ordered both the British and the French to dismantle their fortifications and not to fight private wars on his territory. The French agreed but the British refused. The refusal enraged the Nawab and he attacked Calcutta with a large army and captured Fort William.
