उत्तर
The water divide spanning from north to south in India is the River Sabarmati. Aravalli ranges are a part of this water divide. Aravalli ranges run parallel to the winds blowing from the Indian Ocean to the Indian mainland. Hence, scantly or no rainfall occurs on the leeward side of the mountains. This has gradually led to the formation of dry areas in Rajasthan.
