(i) Gaining ratio = New Ratio – Old Ratio

B = `5/8-2/5=(25-16)/40=9/40`

C = `3/8-1/5=(15-8)/40=7/40`

Gaining ratio = 9 : 7

(ii) Goodwill of the firm = ₹ 60,000

A share in Goodwill = `60,000xx2/5` = 24,000

B = `24,000xx9/16` = ₹ 13,500

C = `24,000xx7/16` = ₹ 10,500
