उत्तर

Let x = 3.17      ...(1)

Multiplying both sides by 100, we get

100x = 317.17     ...(2)

Subtracting (1) from (2), we get

∴ 100x - x = 317.17  - 3.17

∴  99x = 314

`therefore x = 314/99`

So, 3.17 = `314/99`

Add the following rational numbers:

\[\frac{5}{36} and \frac{- 7}{12}\]

Add the following rational numbers:

\[\frac{- 5}{16} and \frac{7}{24}\]

Simplify:

\[\frac{- 8}{19} + \frac{- 4}{57}\]

Re-arrange suitably and find the sum in each of the following:

\[\frac{2}{3} + \frac{- 4}{5} + \frac{1}{3} + \frac{2}{5}\]

Evaluate each of the following:

\[\frac{4}{7} - \frac{- 5}{- 7}\]

The sum of the two numbers is \[\frac{5}{9} .\]  If one of the numbers is \[\frac{1}{3},\] find the other.

What should be added to \[\left( \frac{2}{3} + \frac{3}{5} \right)\] to get\[\frac{- 2}{15}?\]

Simplify each of the following and write as a rational number of the form \[\frac{p}{q}:\]

\[\frac{2}{3} + \frac{- 5}{6} + \frac{- 7}{9}\]

Multiply:

\[\frac{- 3}{17} \text{by} \frac{- 5}{- 4}\]

Multiply:

\[\frac{9}{- 7} \text{by} \frac{36}{- 11}\]

Simplify each of the following and express the result as a rational number in standard form:

\[\frac{- 13}{9} \times \frac{27}{- 26}\]

Simplify:

\[\left( \frac{- 9}{4} \times \frac{5}{3} \right) + \left( \frac{13}{2} \times \frac{5}{6} \right)\]

Fill in the blanks:
The product of two negative rational numbers is always .....

Find the value and express as a rational number in standard form:

\[\frac{- 40}{99} \div ( - 20)\]

Find (x + y) ÷ (x − y), if

\[x = \frac{1}{4}, y = \frac{3}{2}\]

  2. Every whole number is a rational number.
  3. Every integer is a rational number.
  4. Every rational number is a whole number.

Compare: `- 3  "and"  2 3/4 or 11/4`

Solve the following: Select the rational numbers from the list which are also the integers.
