2. The line managers’ responsibilities have been significantly expanded, and more personnel are available to provide additional input, guidance, and information.
3. Line and staff links enable line managers to access specialised expertise and support when needed, thereby promoting better decision-making and coordination. Supervisors who support line managers are a good example.
4. The nature of their employment could be advising, with line managers making the final decision. The line-staff combination solves the lack of specialization in the line organization. It promotes specialisation while preserving command unity.
