• It is based on the assumption that the slope between the two points is uniform.
• This method is used to represent the shape of the land more accurately when only spot heights are given.
• There are three common methods:
  • Estimation (by eye), 
  • Arithmetic (by calculation), and 
  • Graphical (using diagrams or overlays). 
•  Interpolation helps in constructing a smooth and continuous relief map by showing the gradual change in elevation across a landscape.
