उत्तर
The Mediterranean receives most of its rain in winter because the large-scale pressure belts shift with the seasons in summer the region lies beneath the subtropical high where air is descending (dry trade/warm offshore winds) so skies stay clear and rainfall is suppressed, whereas in winter the belts move equatorward and the area comes under the westerlies and passing mid‑latitude/temperate cyclones that carry moist ocean air and produce most of the annual precipitation (December–March in the Northern Hemisphere).
