The elderly are considered a vulnerable group due to many reasons. Health problems are one of the major concerns during this stage of life. Elderly people are more likely to suffer from diseases because their body’s strength, immunity, and ability to fight illnesses decrease with age. The ageing process can also lead to disabilities such as poor vision or blindness due to cataracts, hearing problems due to nerve weakness, reduced movement because of arthritis, and difficulty in taking care of themselves.
Another reason is that many elderly people may experience loneliness and isolation. As part of the family life cycle, their children may move away after marriage or for employment opportunities, leaving them alone and with less family support.
