उत्तर

Marianne was a popular female allegorical created by 19th-century French artists to represent the abstract concept of the French Republic. She was given a common name to emphasize a “people’s nation”, and she was designed to reflect the ideas of liberty, the republic, and national unity. Artists created a new visual identity for her by using revolutionary designs such as the red Phrygian cap, tricolour flag, and cockade. Her sculptures were constructed in public areas, and her image appeared on coins and stamps to remind people of their common identity. Rather than resembling a genuine historical woman, Marianne worked as a compelling symbol to inspire ordinary people to sympathize with republican values.
