1. Thigmotropism is a directional growth movement of a plant part in response to touch. Thigmonasty is a non-directional movement of a plant part in response to touch.
2. The movement depends on the direction of the stimulus. The movement does not depend on the direction of the stimulus.
3. Example: Tendrils of a pea plant coil around a support. Example: Leaves of Mimosa pudica fold when touched.
