The Objectives Resolution was moved by Jawaharlal Nehru in 1946. It laid down the basic principles and the ideas on which the Indian Constitution was to be framed by the Constituent Assembly. The Objectives Resolution gave institutional expression to the fundamental commitments of justice, equality, sovereignty and liberty.
