3. A small amount of toxic constituent, which is neither excreted nor metabolised, increases as the food chain moves upward from one trophic level to the next, and the toxic constituents become concentrated.
4. They also lead to gastrointestinal irritation, liver and kidney problems, and damage to the nervous system of marine mammals.
