Which of the following statements is incorrect regarding magnetic field lines?
(a) The direction of magnetic field at a point is taken to be the direction in which the north pole a magnetic compass needle points.
(b) Magnetic field lines are closed curves.
(c) If magnetic field lines are parallel and equidistant, they represent zero field strength.
(d) Relative strength of magnetic field is shown by the degree of closeness of the field lines.
State four properties of magnetic field lines.
Draw the pattern of magnetic field lines near a bar magnet placed with its North Pole pointing towards the geographic North. Indicate the position of neutral points by marking X.
In a uniform magnetic field, the field lines are:
A battery can supply a charge of 25 × 104 C. If the current is drawn from battery at the rate of 2.5 A, calculate the time in which battery will discharge completely.
State briefly the modern views on magnetism.
Inside the magnet, the field lines moves ____________.
The relative strength of the magnetic field at a point in the space surrounding the magnet is shown by the ____________.
Can two magnetic lines of force intersect? Justify your answer:
Assertion (A): Magnetic field lines never intersect each other.
Reason (R): If they intersect, then at the point of intersection, the compass needle would point towards two directions, which is not possible.
