उत्तर
The poet got 100 slaps and returned happily. But as soon as he reached the first gate he had to give half slaps to the gatekeeper, i.e. 50 slaps.
When he reached the second gate, he had to give 40 slaps to the gatekeeper. Finally, when he reached the last gate, he had to give 10 slaps to the gatekeeper.
Thus, Birbal gave 50 + 40 + 10 = 100 slaps as demanded by three gatekeepers. Due to his presence of mind, Birbal did not get a single slap and could teach a lesson to gatekeepers.
