उत्तर
Light reactions use light to synthesize ATP and NADPH2. The Calvin cycle uses these reactants to produce sugar from CO2 molecules.
This cycle then produces NAP + ADP + Pi which is used in the light reaction with H2O molecules to produce ATP and NADPH2 again.

Short answer question.
What is the source of energy for photosynthesis?
(i) Fill in the blanks in the following equations of two chemical reactions:
(a) \[\ce{---+12H2O->[Light energy]C6H12O6 + --- + ----}\]
(b) \[\ce{--- 6O2->[Chlorophyll] 6 --- +6 ---- + Energy}\]
(ii) Name the two processes represented by the above two reactions.
(iii) State any two differences in these processes other than those already indicated in the reactions.
(iv) Which one of these two reactions is the supporter of all life on earth?
A potted destarched plant was taken in order to prove that light is necessary for photosynthesis.
(i) What is meant by 'destarched plant'? How can it be destarched?
(ii) Using the destarched plant describe step by step how you would proceed to prove that in the absence of light the leaf cannot manufacture starch.
Identify the false statements and rewrite them correctly by changing the first or last word only.
Starch produced in a leaf remains stored in it for 2-3 weeks before it is used by other parts of the plant.
Enumerate the steps involved in testing a green leaf for the presence of starch.
A leaf is a food factory. Explain.
On a bright sunny day, water weeds growing in an aquarium were actively giving off bubbles of gas. Use this information to answer questions that follow:
- Name the process occurring in the water weed that has resulted in the evolution of these bubbles.
- Of what gas do these bubbles consist?
- Briefly describe the reactions occurring in the leaves of the water weeds leading to the evolution of these bubbles.
- Give an overall balanced chemical equation to represent the process named in (i) above.
Using the destarched plant describe step by step how would you proceed to prove that in the absence of light the leaf cannot manufacture starch?
A healthy croton plant bearing variegated leaves was kept in a dark cupboard to destarch it after which it was placed in sunlight for a few hours. One of the leaves was then plucked and an outline of the leaf marking the green and the non-green regions was drawn. The leaf was then tested for starch. Using the above information, answer the following questions:
- State the aim of the above experiment.
- Name the chemical used for testing the presence of starch.
- Why is the leaf boiled in water and alcohol before testing for the presence of starch?
- What change is seen on the leaf after the starch test?
- Give the chemical equation to represent the process of starch formation in plants.
Name the following:
The chemical substance used to test the presence of starch in the cell of a leaf.

State whether true or false. If false, correct the statement.
Photosynthesis is important in releasing oxygen to keep the atmosphere in balance.
______ food is made in their green stems.
