Let x be the breadth of the rectangle.
Then, length of the rectangle = 5x – 4
According to the question,
2x + 2(5x – 4) = 40
⇒ 2x + 10x – 8 = 40
⇒ 12x = 48
⇒ x = 4
Hence, length of the rectangle = 5x – 4 = (5 × 4) = 20 – 4 = 16 m.
