उत्तर

Given: Mean of 9 variates = 11; eight variates are 7, 12, 9, 14, 21, 3, 8 and 15.

Step-wise calculation:

1. Total sum of 9 variates

= Mean × Number

= 11 × 9

= 99

2. Sum of the eight given variates

= 7 + 12 + 9 + 14 + 21 + 3 + 8 + 15

= 89

3. Ninth variate

= Total sum – Sum of eight

= 99 – 89

= 10

The 9th variate is 10.
