The maid was sent away, and she took over all the housework when she moved into a rented house. She had a terrible, poor, and low life for ten years. Matilda wanted to show off, and one careless or mistaken action ruined their whole fun-filled life. Because they borrowed money to buy a necklace, they were poor for ten years.
