Dear Riya,
You will never guess what happened to me during our picnic last Saturday! As I was opening a jar of jam, a wasp began circling my hand. I was frightened, but I remembered that sudden movements might provoke it. So, I placed the jar on the picnic table and slowly stepped away without swatting at the wasp.
It landed on the lid and explored the sticky jam. I quietly asked my family to move away, too. Then I walked calmly towards the garden gate, keeping my arms still. The wasp soon flew off towards a clump of flowers. We waited a little before covering the jam and packing our things.
Everyone praised my cool-headed escape. I was relieved that neither the wasp nor I was hurt. I also learned that staying calm and giving an insect space is much wiser than trying to chase it away. Next time, I’ll make sure our food is covered from the start!
